Adele is an English singer-songwriter whose four studio albums — 19, 21, 25 and 30 — turned a conversational, soul-rooted writing style and commanding mezzo-soprano into one of the defining pop careers of the twenty-first century. Raised mainly by her mother across Tottenham, Brixton and West Norwood, she studied at the BRIT School before emerging with Chasing Pavements and winning the Grammy for Best New Artist. She achieved a global breakthrough with 21 and songs including Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You. Surgery for a vocal-cord haemorrhage in 2011 later made protecting her voice a firm boundary on performance. She followed with the Oscar-winning James Bond theme Skyfall, the record-setting 25 and its single Hello, and 30, a self-reckoning record shaped by motherhood and divorce. Her honours include 16 Grammys and an Academy Award. From 2022 to 2024 she headlined Weekends with Adele in Las Vegas and a ten-show Munich residency before beginning an extended performance break. Her next announced creative step is her screen-acting debut in Tom Ford's adaptation of Cry to Heaven, planned for late 2026.
