Angel Reese

Professional basketball player

Born 2002

Angel Reese is an American basketball forward for the Atlanta Dream. Born in Randallstown, Maryland, she was raised by her mother, Angel Webb Reese, and grew up competing with her younger brother, Julian. Both parents had played college basketball. A front-yard hoop became a place for sibling competition, while other childhood sports accompanied basketball. At Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, she developed into a highly recruited player. She chose Maryland in part to remain close to home and work with Brenda Frese. A foot injury interrupted her first college season, but she returned to earn All-Big Ten and All-America recognition. Communications studies accompanied her college career; she graduated from LSU in May 2024 with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree. Reese transferred to LSU in 2022. Under Kim Mulkey, she helped the Tigers win the 2023 national championship and received the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player honour. She followed that season with SEC Player of the Year recognition and an Elite Eight appearance. Her international record includes a silver medal with USA at the 2023 AmeriCup. Chicago selected her seventh in the 2024 WNBA draft. Her rookie season brought All-Rookie recognition and an All-Star selection, followed by another All-Star appearance in 2025. She also played for Rose in Unrivaled, winning the inaugural league championship and its defensive award. Atlanta acquired her in April 2026. That season brought a third WNBA All-Star selection, World Cup gold with USA, and separate Associated Press and WNBA defensive awards. The Dream’s September 30 playoff win advanced the team to the semifinals. In a March 2022 interview, she described sports commentary as a post-playing ambition and discussed a prospective internship with former Maryland player Christy Winters Scott. Outside competition, Reese established a foundation supporting girls through sport, education and financial literacy. Her public projects include a Reebok signature shoe, a Barbie collaboration, a podcast and screen appearances. Netflix announced her as Trainer Barbie in the second season of The Hunting Wives, scheduled for November 26, 2026. Dated interviews also document music choices, food preferences and demonstrated beauty products; they do not establish a complete current nutrition or training plan.
