Born 1994
Bad Bunny is the stage name of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, a Puerto Rican singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, actor and professional wrestler born in Bayamón and raised in Vega Baja. He began uploading self-produced music to SoundCloud while studying communications and working at a supermarket, then broke through with Diles in 2016. His album run—X 100PRE, YHLQMDLG, El Último Tour del Mundo, Un Verano Sin Ti, nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana and DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS—expanded Latin trap and reggaeton without abandoning Spanish or his Puerto Rican dialect. He became the first artist with an all-Spanish-language album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2026, then headlined the Super Bowl LX halftime show as a celebration of Puerto Rican and wider Latin culture. His parallel screen career includes Narcos: Mexico, Bullet Train, Cassandro, Caught Stealing and Happy Gilmore 2; PORTO RICO, an epic historical drama directed by Residente, is set to be his first leading film role. He has also crossed into WWE, winning at WrestleMania 37 and defeating Damian Priest in a 2023 San Juan Street Fight. Across music, film, wrestling, fashion and political expression, his work remains closely tied to Puerto Rico's history, language and contemporary culture.
