Billie Eilish is an American singer, songwriter, director and producer who grew from a homeschooled Highland Park childhood and Los Angeles Children's Chorus training into one of her generation's defining pop artists. She and her brother Finneas began recording at home; Ocean Eyes, written for her dance teacher and uploaded to SoundCloud in 2015, became their breakthrough. The EP dont smile at me led to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, whose success made Eilish the youngest artist to sweep the Grammys' four general-field categories in one ceremony. Happier Than Ever and Hit Me Hard and Soft followed, alongside two Academy Award-winning film songs. Eilish has extended her authorship beyond recordings: she directs music videos, published a self-titled photographic book in 2021, acted in Swarm and co-directed a 2026 3D concert film with James Cameron. Her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour also supported climate and plant-based initiatives. In April 2026, she said work on a fourth studio album was more than halfway complete, while making clear that its release was not imminent.
