Jannik Sinner is an Italian professional tennis player from South Tyrol. Born in San Candido, he grew up in the German-speaking community of Sesto. His father Hanspeter and mother Siglinde encouraged independence; his brother Mark is part of the family he credits for his support. Tennis began at seven alongside skiing and football. A successful junior skier, he chose tennis at thirteen and moved to Bordighera to develop his game. In a later long-form interview, he described parents who worked as a cook and waitress and a move away from home into a coach’s household. That setting placed him in a training environment while allowing him to grow up with another family. In May 2026, he reflected on his parents allowing him to leave home for training and said he wanted more time with his family. The ATP rankings first recorded him in 2018. A rapid Challenger-level progression brought a top 100 place and the Next Gen ATP Finals championship the following year. Sofia brought his first ATP title, followed by a first ATP 500 championship and a top 10 finish. The 2023 season added a first Masters title in Toronto, a Wimbledon semifinal and an ATP Finals runner-up finish. He then helped Italy win the Davis Cup. The first major arrived at the Australian Open in 2024; the US Open and ATP Finals followed. In June he became the first Italian to lead the singles computer rankings. He defended the Australian Open in 2025 and won Wimbledon, ending the season with another ATP Finals title. That year also included a three-month period of ineligibility under a WADA case-resolution agreement. WADA accepted that he had no intent to cheat and gained no performance benefit from the unknowing exposure, while finding responsibility for his entourage’s negligence. The 2026 season added Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid and Rome, followed by a successful Wimbledon defence and a fifth major. His September withdrawal from Beijing means the current profile does not turn an anticipated return into a result. Beyond competition, he has contributed to an illustrated tennis manual and spoken-word recording with Andrea Bocelli, appeared in Forza Jannik and launched his own Unfiltered series. His foundation supports children through education and sport. Direct interviews document family food, changing reading habits, a recent song and a sponsored skincare account. His publicly acknowledged relationship with Laila Hasanovic is kept distinct from their photographed companionship with her dog Snoopy.
