Actor and producer

Born 1990

Jennifer Lawrence is an American actor and producer raised in the Louisville area. A New York talent scout discovered her during a family trip; after moving to Los Angeles, she took television roles including The Bill Engvall Show. Winter's Bone established her dramatic reputation before she played Mystique in the X-Men films and Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. She won the Academy Award for leading actress for Silver Linings Playbook and Golden Globes for that film, American Hustle and Joy. Her later acting work spans Passengers, mother!, Red Sparrow, Don't Look Up, Causeway and No Hard Feelings. Through Excellent Cadaver, she produces fiction and documentary films, including Bread & Roses and Die My Love, and executive-produced Zurawski v Texas. She received a Donostia career honor in 2025. Vogue's September 2026 interview reported that she had finished filming Martin Scorsese's What Happens at Night; Apple's announcement also identifies her as a producer.
