Lady Gaga

Singer, songwriter, producer and actor

Born 1986

Lady Gaga is an American singer, songwriter, producer and actor whose work joins dance-pop, rock, jazz, theatre and film. Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in Manhattan, she studied piano and performed in New York clubs before The Fame and The Fame Monster turned Just Dance, Poker Face and Bad Romance into global breakthroughs. Born This Way, ARTPOP, Joanne and Chromatica widened her pop vocabulary, while her partnership with Tony Bennett on Cheek to Cheek and Love for Sale established a parallel career in jazz. Gaga moved into leading screen roles with American Horror Story: Hotel, A Star Is Born, House of Gucci and Joker: Folie à Deux; A Star Is Born brought a Best Actress Oscar nomination and an Academy Award for Shallow. She co-founded Born This Way Foundation with her mother Cynthia Germanotta, pairing her public work with youth mental-health and kindness initiatives. After Harlequin and the Bruno Mars duet Die With a Smile, she returned to dark, maximalist pop with MAYHEM, toured its gothic opera-house staging through 2025–26, won two more Grammys in 2026, recorded Runway with Doechii for The Devil Wears Prada 2 and reimagined the album as Apple Music Live: MAYHEM Requiem.
