Born 1997
LISA is the stage name of Lalisa Manobal, the Thai rapper, singer, dancer and actor who became one of global pop's most recognisable performers as a member of BLACKPINK. Born Pranpriya Manobal in Buriram Province, she grew up in Thailand and pursued dance before winning a YG Entertainment audition as a teenager. She changed her first name to Lalisa after a fortune teller's advice, moved to South Korea at 14, learned Korean and trained for five years. In August 2016 she debuted with Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé on BLACKPINK's single album Square One. Her precision as a dancer, low-toned rap delivery and stage presence became central to a catalogue that expanded from Square Up and Kill This Love to The Album, Born Pink and the 2026 mini album Deadline, alongside stadium-scale touring. LISA began her solo recording career in 2021 with the single album LALISA and the viral B-side Money. After establishing LLOUD in 2024 and partnering with RCA Records, she released Rockstar, New Woman with Rosalía and Moonlit Floor before her debut studio album Alter Ego arrived in February 2025. Its five-character concept framed her range across rap, pop and performance, while Born Again with Doja Cat and RAYE won the 2025 MTV VMA for Best K-Pop. She made her acting debut under her full name as Mook in the Thailand-set third season of HBO's The White Lotus, performed her first solo Coachella set in 2025, then reunited with BLACKPINK for the Deadline era. Her screen career is continuing with the Netflix action thriller TYGO and a Notting Hill-inspired romantic comedy in development. In 2026 she performed Goals with Anitta and Rema at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, joined the Met Gala host committee, and sold out the four-show VIVA LA LISA Las Vegas residency. Sue Kim's documentary Always Lalisa premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for worldwide IMAX and cinema release on October 12 before streaming on YouTube Premium. Her next EP, Press Play, led by the Bangkok-shot SaWaDiKa, is scheduled for October 23.
