Miley Cyrus

Singer-songwriter, actor and director

Born 1992

Miley Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter and actor whose career began in television and developed across pop, country, hip-hop, rock and visual albums. Born in Franklin, Tennessee, she grew up in a performing family: Billy Ray Cyrus is her father and Dolly Parton her godmother. Her mother Tish managed her career from its beginnings, as British Vogue reported in 2023. Early screen appearances in Doc and Big Fish preceded Hannah Montana, where she played Miley Stewart and the character's pop-star alter ego. The television series launched alongside recordings and a concert film, while Meet Miley Cyrus began her own studio-album catalogue. Bolt added voice acting, and The Last Song gave her a leading dramatic role. Breakout and Can't Be Tamed preceded the adult pop direction of Bangerz; Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, Younger Now and Plastic Hearts expanded her musical range. She hosted Saturday Night Live, became a coach on The Voice and acted in Crisis in Six Scenes and Black Mirror. Further voice work includes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Stone Quackers and Human Resources. Flowers and Endless Summer Vacation brought her first two GRAMMY wins; II Most Wanted with Beyoncé added a country collaboration win. Producing extends from her New Year's Eve specials to the Hannah Montana anniversary programme. She produced and co-directed the Something Beautiful film, bringing its songs into a visual project. Her work also includes the autobiography Miles to Go, written with Hilary Liftin, and the Happy Hippie Foundation, later expanded into the Miley Cyrus Foundation. The September 2026 album Bass Persuades and October Different Religion video mark her latest checked recording chapter.
