Patrick Mahomes

American football player and producer

Born 1995

Patrick Mahomes is an American football quarterback and sports producer whose career links Whitehouse and Texas Tech with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was born in Tyler, Texas, in 1995. His father Pat’s baseball career exposed him to major-league clubhouses. He played football, basketball and baseball at Whitehouse High School, nearly leaving football before securing the quarterback role. Mahomes initially committed to both college football and baseball. His father’s account describes the importance of honouring that commitment before football became the focus. At Texas Tech, he developed under Kliff Kingsbury and finished his junior season as the country’s leading passer. His 5,052 passing yards in 2016 were distinct from his total-offence statistics, and the Sammy Baugh Award recognised that final college campaign. The Chiefs then traded up to select him tenth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie year behind Alex Smith, making his first start in the regular-season finale at Denver. When Smith moved on, Mahomes became the starter in 2018. Andy Reid’s offence gave his improvisational throwing ability a professional framework. His first full starting season brought the Associated Press NFL MVP award. Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIV comeback in Miami then delivered a championship and the game’s MVP: Mahomes found Travis Kelce and Damien Williams for late scoring passes as the Chiefs overtook San Francisco. The later Super Bowl LVII and LVIII victories added two more championships and game MVP awards. His second regular-season NFL MVP recognised the 2022 season, with the award presented in February 2023. These honours belong to different competitions and calendars; the season year is not always the ceremony or championship date. His public work also extends beyond playing. Netflix’s Quarterback follows him alongside Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota through the 2022 season. The company he created, 2PM Productions, participates in sports storytelling, and Netflix expressly credits him and Jacquelyn Dahl as executive producers of Receiver. He also appears in Evolution of the Black Quarterback. The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, established in 2019, supports children and community causes. Its reading programme connects with a 2025 event at which he read Kristen Heath’s We’re All Weird, reported as a family favourite. Kansas City Current announced his ownership stake in January 2023, joining wife Brittany and the Longs. His marriage announcement dates to March 2022, and an original June 2026 interview still refers to his wife. That summer conversation, held at a Hublot event, also captures dated food and listening answers. Earlier training and nutrition interviews are retained as historical accounts, rather than a present prescription. The Chiefs’ September 30, 2026 press-conference listing supplies the latest checked public-career update here.
