Roger Federer is a Swiss former professional tennis player whose career spans major championships, Olympic medals and team competition. Born in Basel, he recalled leaving home as a teenager for the national tennis centre in Biel, adapting to a French-speaking school, host family and coaching environment. His early coaches included Peter Carter and Peter Lundgren. In a retrospective interview, he connected his South African family visits to his later foundation work. His junior record includes Wimbledon and ITF recognition. Milan brought his first ATP singles title, followed by Wimbledon and the season-ending championship. He won major titles on the hard courts of Melbourne and New York, the grass of Wimbledon and the clay of Roland-Garros, where victory completed his career Grand Slam. His official record lists twenty major singles championships and 103 tour singles titles. The Olympic record adds doubles gold with Stan Wawrinka and singles silver; Switzerland also won the Davis Cup. The career’s season-ending titles came in Houston, Shanghai and London, while Masters victories extended across surfaces and continents. Rivalries with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray shaped the era. His professional career ended at the 2022 Laver Cup. Later projects include documentary appearances, a Dartmouth commencement address and a visual biography by Doris Henkel produced with Roger and his wife, Mirka. In his induction speech he also recalled being a ball boy at Basel’s Swiss Indoors and named his parents, Rob and Lynette. His foundation works on early and foundational learning in Southern Africa and Switzerland. An April 2026 announcement introduced the name Federer Foundation and a new strategy. The International Tennis Hall of Fame inducted him in August 2026. A subsequent direct interview discusses mentoring through Uniqlo Next Gen, alongside explicitly dated personal habits rather than a continuing tour schedule.
