Ryan Gosling

Actor, director, musician and photographer

Born 1980

Ryan Gosling is a Canadian actor, filmmaker and musician whose career spans intimate dramas, thrillers, musicals and comedy. His early television work included The Mickey Mouse Club, where he performed alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. In his 2006 W profile he credited that experience with teaching a professional work ethic. He followed children's television with Breaker High and Young Hercules, then established his film career through The Believer and The Notebook. His interest in contradictory characters shaped work such as Half Nelson, Blue Valentine and Drive; later films brought the musical La La Land, First Man and the comic role of Ken in Barbie. Beyond acting, he wrote and directed Lost River, collaborated with Zach Shields in Dead Man's Bones and contributed photographs to Congo Stories. In 2026 he starred in Project Hail Mary. Lucasfilm has announced him as Kade Auberon and an executive producer of Star Wars: Starfighter, scheduled for 2027, while Marvel has announced him for Ghost Rider, planned for 2028.
