Ryan Reynolds

Actor and producer

Born 1976

Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born in Vancouver, Canada, on October 23, 1976. His public career spans acting and production, with television comedy, romantic comedy, thrillers, animation and the Deadpool films forming different parts of the record. An early screen credit was Fifteen, the Canadian teen series listed by Apple TV as a 1991 programme starring Reynolds. In his conversation with Sandra Bullock, he described growing up with three older brothers and moving to the United States at nineteen. Improv classes and a Groundlings audition were part of learning comedy; he did not become a member of that company. The sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place then gave him a regular American television role. He described the move south with Canadian actor Chris William Martin and a difficult first night when their Jeep was stripped. A short period at community college preceded that move. In the Van Wilder interview, he connected the role to improvisation and the freedom to develop comic moments within scenes. Blade: Trinity cast him as Hannibal King. Definitely, Maybe placed him at the centre of a romantic comedy as Will Hayes. Buried used a different register, with Reynolds playing the trapped Paul Conroy in its confined thriller setting. Green Lantern cast him as Hal Jordan. Animation added Guy in The Croods to his screen work. In Mississippi Grind, he played Curtis alongside Ben Mendelsohn, continuing the dramatic strand of his work. Deadpool brought Wade Wilson to the centre of a feature film, with Reynolds also credited as a producer. Deadpool 2 continued that role and added writing to his responsibilities. His voice work also included Juggernaut. Free Guy cast him as Guy and also credited him as a producer. The Adam Project returned him to a science-fiction adventure as Big Adam. His involvement in filmmaking also developed into a production and marketing business. He co-founded Maximum Effort with George Dewey in 2018. In TIME’s 2025 profile, Reynolds describes audience attention and quick creative decisions as central to the company’s approach. Television production included the 2020 ABC game show Don’t, which he executive-produced and voiced while Adam Scott hosted. He also narrated and executive-produced Underdogs, a National Geographic nature series that premiered on June 15, 2025. Welcome to Wrexham followed the football club associated with Reynolds and Rob Mac. Disney’s April 2026 announcement identifies both as executive producers and renews the series through an eighth season, expected in 2029. That future renewal is a production plan. IF combined an acting role as Cal with another producing credit. Deadpool & Wolverine brought him back as actor, writer and producer, with Hugh Jackman alongside him. He produced John Candy: I Like Me, directed by Colin Hanks. The documentary premiered on the opening night of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is available through Amazon Prime. Mayday pairs his Navy pilot, Lieutenant Troy Kelly, with Kenneth Branagh’s Nikolai Ustinov, a former KGB agent. Apple lists its release as September 4, 2026. His upcoming work includes an executive-producer credit on Peter Atencio’s Animal Friends. Prime Focus lists January 22, 2027 as the scheduled release; it remains a future project at this review.
