Sadie Sink

Actor and producer

Born 2002

Sadie Sink grew up in Brenham, Texas, performing homemade plays with her brother Mitchell. Her mother spotted a newspaper advertisement for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at Unity Theatre, opening a route into community theatre. Houston’s Theatre Under The Stars followed. In her early Annie interview, Sink described White Christmas as her first substantial production and recalled learning from older performers. A regional Annie engagement preceded the move to Broadway, where she alternated the title role and Duffy with Taylor Richardson. Her father coached football, while Sink gravitated toward performing. The family moved to New Jersey as her acting developed, and vocal and dance lessons became part of her schedule. Preparing to play Max also meant learning to skateboard with an instructor: she approached the unfamiliar physical skill as part of building the character. Her Broadway record begins with Annie standby work in 2012 and lists her alternating Annie and Duffy performances from July 2013. She played Young Elizabeth in The Audience in 2015. Television guest roles in The Americans and Blue Bloods led to American Odyssey’s Suzanne Ballard. Her screen range subsequently expanded through Chuck, The Glass Castle, the Fear Street trilogy and the dramas Dear Zoe and A Sacrifice. Max Mayfield in Stranger Things became a defining television role. The transition was not uninterrupted. Sink told Rooney Mara that a proposed television show fell through, sending her back to school after years of homeschooling. Looking back, she valued the experience of an ordinary childhood alongside acting. The Whale became another turning point: playing Ellie helped her speak up about creative choices and trust her interpretation. Rather than treating a performance as a fixed task, she described discovering its shape through collaboration and experience. O’Dessa brought her into Geremy Jasper’s post-apocalyptic rock opera, centred on a farm girl trying to recover a family heirloom. The film’s soundtrack credits Sink alongside Kelvin Harrison Jr., adding recorded vocal performance to her stage and screen work. Her return to Broadway as Shelby Holcomb in John Proctor Is the Villain earned a 2025 Tony nomination. In 2026 she made her West End debut as Juliet opposite Noah Jupe in Robert Icke’s Romeo & Juliet, whose announced engagement ran from March 16 to June 6. Announced producing work includes John Proctor Is the Villain, without reprising Shelby, and FX’s The Marriage Plot, which also has her attached to act. Voice work continued in June 2026 with Claire in Netflix’s horror game Unhinged. She plays Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. By 2026, she described producing as another way to shape creative decisions, alongside acting. The work reflected growing confidence in contributing her own perspective to a project.
