Shah Rukh Khan is an Indian actor and producer whose television beginnings, risk-taking early film roles and long run as Hindi cinema's defining romantic lead grew into one of the industry's most consequential global careers. Raised in New Delhi, he studied economics at Hansraj College, trained with Theatre Action Group and first became widely recognized as cadet Abhimanyu Rai in the television series Fauji. Deewana brought his film debut in 1992; Baazigar and Darr then made unusually volatile antiheroes central to his breakthrough before Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai established the romantic screen persona that travelled especially strongly with South Asian audiences abroad. He repeatedly complicated that image in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Devdas, Swades, Chak De! India, My Name Is Khan, Fan and Raees. His television work also extended beyond acting to hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? and TED Talks India: Nayi Soch. With Gauri Khan, he founded Red Chillies Entertainment in 2002, building an integrated production, distribution and visual-effects studio behind films including Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Zero and Jawan. After a four-year absence from leading film roles following Zero, he returned in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki; Jawan later earned his first National Film Award for Best Actor. His 2024 Pardo alla Carriera at Locarno and 2025 Met Gala debut reflected a reach beyond the Hindi-film industry. His current announced film is Siddharth Anand's KING, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix and officially dated for cinemas on December 24, 2026.
