Stephen Curry

Basketball player

Born 1988

Wardell Stephen Curry II is an American basketball player whose professional record is centred on the Golden State Warriors. His father, Dell Curry, played in the NBA; Curry recalls watching his career in Charlotte. Born in Akron, Ohio, he entered the NBA as Golden State’s seventh overall draft choice in 2009. His early route ran through Davidson, where a smaller college programme became the setting for a nationally visible tournament run. The Wildcats reached the NCAA Elite Eight in 2008 under coach Bob McKillop. Years after leaving for professional basketball, Curry returned to complete his academic work: his sociology degree belongs to the class of 2022, and the campus ceremony also recognised him through jersey retirement and its Athletics Hall of Fame. That institutional honour is distinct from the professional basketball Hall of Fame. His league career developed into a sustained championship-era role. The NBA’s official 2016 announcement records a second consecutive Most Valuable Player award and the first unanimous vote in the award’s history. The wider international record includes senior world tournaments in 2010 and 2014. At Paris 2024 he helped the United States finish as Olympic champion and was selected to the tournament’s All-Star Five. His Olympic preparation interview also discusses playing for Steve Kerr and the importance he attaches to representing his country. In March 2025, Davidson announced Curry as a volunteer assistant general manager, advising both basketball programmes. The career is documented alongside an entertainment business rather than reduced to match statistics. Sony’s 2018 announcement introduced Unanimous Media with Jeron Smith and Erick Peyton. Later screen work includes the golf competition Holey Moley, the documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated and executive production of Mr. Throwback. Peter Nicks’s documentary follows the passage from college basketball to the NBA; the credits do not establish Curry as one of its producers. GOAT adds a voice performance and a production credit in 2026. His publishing record includes the picture book I Have a Superpower, illustrated by Geneva Bowers, and the illustrated Shot Ready. Family life also appears in his own public work. A joint 2026 podcast appearance with Ayesha Curry discusses marriage, parenting and legacy. The lifestyle record keeps earlier reading, food, music and pet accounts attached to their dates. A book-club choice is distinguished from authorship, and the skincare demonstration carries the context of his wife’s brand. Such interviews describe particular moments rather than a permanently fixed routine.
