Takuya Kimura

Actor and singer

Born 1972

Takuya Kimura is a Japanese actor, singer, radio host and performer whose career has moved between pop music, landmark television drama, film, animation and video games. After debuting with SMAP, he became one of the defining television leads of his generation through Asunaro Hakusho, Long Vacation, Beautiful Life, Hero and Good Luck!!, then expanded into films including 2046, Love and Honor, Blade of the Immortal, Masquerade Hotel and Grand Maison Paris. He voiced Howl in Howl's Moving Castle and Shoichi Maki in The Boy and the Heron, and performed the face and Japanese voice of detective Takayuki Yagami in Sega's Judgment games. Since SMAP's disbandment he has continued as a solo recording artist, actor and host of the long-running radio programme Flow; recent work includes Tokyo Taxi, the two-part Kyojo film finale, the Checkpoint album and a 2026 tour with his first solo overseas concerts.
