Timothée Chalamet

Actor and producer

Born 1995

Timothée Chalamet is an American and French actor and producer whose career connects New York theatre training, independent film and large-scale studio filmmaking. Raised in Manhattan by an American mother and French father, he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, studied briefly at Columbia and NYU, and moved from television work in Homeland to Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. His 2017 performances in Call Me by Your Name and Lady Bird made him an international breakout; the former brought his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He followed with Beautiful Boy, The King, Little Women and a run of director-led projects before becoming Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's Dune films and reimagining Willy Wonka in Wonka. For A Complete Unknown, he spent years learning Bob Dylan's guitar, harmonica and vocal performance and won the 2025 Screen Actors Guild award for male lead. Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme expanded his work behind the camera: Chalamet starred as table-tennis striver Marty Mauser and joined the film's producing team, earning 2026 Academy Award nominations for both acting and Best Picture, plus his first Golden Globe win. His current slate includes the December 2026 release Dune: Part Three and High Side, an original Paramount film reuniting him with A Complete Unknown director James Mangold. Away from invented lifestyle narratives, his documented tastes include a 2017 music playlist, role-specific fight and table-tennis training, and a dated fragrance statement made while he was Bleu de Chanel's ambassador.
