Jennie Kim is a South Korean singer and rapper and a member of BLACKPINK. She corrected her birthplace to Bundang in a 2024 television appearance. Childhood school and homestay in Auckland preceded her YG training. She recalled her mother playing Norah Jones and Backstreet Boys and her own attraction to R&B. An early screen appearance came in G-Dragon’s That XX video. BLACKPINK debuted with SQUARE ONE in 2016. SQUARE UP followed in 2018. THE ALBUM expanded the group’s catalogue in 2020; YG credits her songwriting on Lovesick Girls. BORN PINK followed in 2022. DEADLINE continued the group’s recording work in 2026. Her solo recordings began with SOLO, followed by You & Me and collaborations including One of the Girls, Slow Motion and SPOT!. She established OA for solo work while retaining BLACKPINK activities, developing new creative relationships and greater responsibility for her decisions. Ruby, co-produced and released in March 2025, featured Doechii, Dua Lipa and Dominic Fike. The Ruby Experience brought it to intimate live shows, beginning in Los Angeles. Ruby received Korean Music Awards recognition. Her 2026 recordings include the Tame Impala Dracula collaboration. Fallen Angel arrived digitally in August. The announced Japanese physical edition remains forthcoming in October. Her television work also includes Apartment404. Her acting work includes Dyanne in HBO’s The Idol, credited as Jennie Ruby Jane.

Fallen Angel’s Japanese CD is announced for October

Sony Music Japan announced an October 30 CD edition of Fallen Angel with three additional tracks: Sweet Tooth, Lock It Down and Faith. These physical-edition tracks remain forthcoming; the three-track digital EP was released August 28.
