Taylor Swift

Singer-songwriter, producer and director

Born 1989

Taylor Swift is an American singer-songwriter, producer and director whose career has moved from autobiographical country songwriting to arena-scale pop, indie-folk records and self-directed screen work. Born in Pennsylvania, she built her early career in Nashville and released her self-titled debut in 2006, when she was sixteen. Fearless made her the youngest Album of the Year Grammy winner at the time; 1989 completed an explicit pop turn; folklore and evermore introduced an intimate, fictional mode written during the pandemic; and Midnights made her the first artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times. Her rerecording project changed the public conversation around master ownership, and in May 2025 she announced that she had bought back the masters and associated art for her full catalogue. The Eras Tour then became a career-spanning live retrospective, followed by a concert film, a six-part documentary and a final-show film. Swift has increasingly directed her own videos and short films, including All Too Well: The Short Film, Anti-Hero, Fortnight, The Fate of Ophelia and Patient Zero. Her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl expanded in September 2026 with The Encore, while her original song for Toy Story 5 and the Patient Zero video kept her current work split between music, film songwriting and direction.
